The Citadel, Chateau Frontenac, Plains of Abraham and the Québec Parliament are all attractions located in Upper Town, sharing the space with a variety of standout shops, restaurants and markets. Old Québec is the heart of our city, which is divided between Upper Town and Lower Town. Its stone ramparts once protected our city. Today you’ll find a unique neighborhood filled with four centuries of French, English and Canadian history and traditions. When you visit Upper Town, imagine what it was like when Samuel de Champlain decided to build a fort here 400 years ago.

Lower Town is the earliest site of French civilization in North America; you’ll find many attractions here as well to keep your interest piqued. Although French is the official language, English is understood in many places. So make yourself at home, and dive into one of the most historical cities in the world!
