Movement therapy is defined as an alternative manual medecine of European origin that focuses on troubles in human body functioning. It distinguishes itself from other manual therapy intervention methods by its approach.
Through touch, mechanical movement therapists are able to determine the different causes of pain and suggest appropriate treatments. Therapists conduct different mobility tests to examine joints (spinal or peripheral) and internal organs. They use different types of palpitations to help them evaluate the shape, volume, consistency, tension and position of structures.
Specific examinations are run on different body systems to look at how they interrelate both mechanically and neurophysiologically. Patients can be notified by therapists once they discover the ultimate cause, or primary source, that could have lead to a series of symptoms and secondary problems. These problems won’t disappear until the cause can be treated effectively. Therapeutic intervention is customized to different problem types and specific to areas that are affected.
Therapists are not interested in one specific symptom; they use a holistic approach and understand patients as whole beings.
