In Québec, the cost of living is very low compared to other similar places elsewhere in the world, as shown by various studies and statistical compilations. Its resident’s benefit from lower costs for housing, food and clothing. Health care is free and tuition fees are very affordable.

The cost of living in Québec is one of the lowest in the world among industrialized countries. Québec City is also put it at the top of the list of “best places to live with a family”. It has the lowest housing costs (relative to income), and the smallest percentage of families in need of core housing (10 percent).

Accommodations are less expensive than in most other Canadian cities, though many of the guesthouses offer just basic amenities such as shared baths because they are located in historic buildings, which makes it very expensive to upgrade the facilities.
